what I'm looking forward too.............

I've had such a crappy, f$#%#$^$#&%#&%$&ed day!!! I tell you...... so as I vent I'm going to list what I'm looking forward too.

Number 1. Our client Xmas show tomorrow evening, which I've organised. It's at the British Hotel, a stunning 1880s 2 storey pub. It is picture perfect, built with stone and very English. I've organised gift bags with goodies such as Lindt chocolate and giving away prizes including Jansz Sparkling (I do just read they've released a Sparkling Rose - holy moly - keep me away!)

Number 2. My boyfriend is back for the weekend, arriving Thursday. He's working at the oh so famous Kakadu National Park in Northern Territory.

Number 3. Our other work function (for temps) at SQ Wine Bar in Adelaide on Friday night. Will be laugther and fun! Can't wait

Number 4. (Wow - all in one week!) the wedding of D&G's (that sounds oh so fashionable) in the Adelaide Hills at the glorious Longview Vineyard - having a 'what to wear issue' currently. I have the perrrrfect summer dress but it's going to be cold and crappy - what is a girl to do??

Number 5. Seeing my best friend B, who is flying in for the Wedding from Melbourne.

Number 6. (Skipping a couple of weeks). My b/f and my road trip to Brisbane. We are stopping off to see my brother in Wagga. B/f's brother and family in NSW and then 3 fab nights in Byron Bay (I wonder if the 'inner hippy' within me will come out to play?) before we hit Brisbane.

Fake Tan Faux Pas

Friday morning I woke up early. I decided I wanted to be brown. After recommendations from my good friend Kate, I bought Loreal Sublime tanning gel.

7am - after my shower fake tanned my bod and face
9am - sitting at work with skirt suit on, skirt show legs
10am - I look at my legs 'God I'm looking hot' I think. 'Brown, toned sexy legs - yep I'm looking good'
11am - arrive at Doctor's and hop out my car. I gasp for air! 'Holy Fuck what have I done???' 'I look like a tiger!!!! Huge stripey legs' How embarassing!!!!!

Try to hide the rest of the day behind my desk.

6pm - get home, canel ALL plans for the evening. It is a hot and balmy night. I'm striped all over. Put on black stretchy, very un-hip pants on.
7pm - My good friend Miss M decides to come over with a couple of bottles of bubbly. We make a cheese platter. We chain smoke Marlboro Lights. Miss M asks 'What has happened to your feet??' 'Oh my god' I think to myself, I have my flip flops/thongs on and didn't notice my stripey feet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spent the rest of the weekend loofah-ing and scrubbing - hiding behind baggy pants and tops that cover every inch of my body!

Thankk god my face wasn't stripey!

Anyone else had a Fake Tan Faux Pas?

no time to blog..........

It is so depressing but I seem to have no time to blog - it's crazy!!!!

Work is crazy and I'm rarely in the office anyway
I've had functions on every night this week (including a fab fashion parade at the very hip Treasury Wine Bar.) The parade was outdoors around the magnificent fountain. The weather was balmy, the bubbly was divine and the wine so crisp.

And with Christmas coming it's madness! As well as Weddings to attend - it never ends!

So Happy Blogging! I'll try to keep popping in when I get the chance....

Human Traffic - aka 'The Weekend Has Landed'

What I'll be doing

Tonight - meant to be going to the Belgium Beer Cafe (zzz zzz zzz) to catch up with old colleagues for work drinks BUT seeing I was at the ever-so-fashionable, Edinburgh Hotel for dinner last night, drinking waaay too much Sparkling Red, so I think I might go home, and watch Old School for the zillionth time. (Will Ferrell, you're my hero.)

Saturday morning - prolly a 10km run, or a sleep in, I'm thinking the latter......... then getting my hair cut and coloured. Might go to the gym and do weights in the arvo

Saturday night - I wouldn't mind checking out the ever so smooth Banque Wine Bar with friends, for cocktails.

Sunday - going to the movies to see the new Jessica Parker movie 'Family Stone', free tickets coutesey of the lovely Julia. Then going for lunch with a couple of friends to Eros cafe then looking at a house b/f and I are interested in buying, a gorgeous 3 bedroom stone bungalow built in 1925, only 10 minute drive to the beach!

And drooling over Helena Christensen (picture below), my alltime favorite model!

I love this tshirt!

(from cafepress.com)

Just because I love her..........

And I love this picture. Old Hollywood Glamour. It will never be repeated.

Now that's hot!

Sienna Miller and her new do see below (images courtesy of msnbc.msn.com and accesshollywood.com) at the Casanova premiere. She is one very attractive woman - and fab style (ok, straight out of Kate Moss's book, but she still aways looks amazing). I love what she is wearing, simple yet stunning.

Now I'm tempted to go back to short and blonde!

Sienna, now PLEASE don't go and get hair extensions - there is nothing worse than extensions, I'm yet to see decent extensions.

Boho et al

Well my weekend was wonderful! They just fly by so quickly and all!

My Saturday Hen's soiree was a hoot! 10 of us gals all went on this wine /food tour. It was wonderful! Our hampers were full of the bestest pate, cheeses, dips etc and at each winery, they gave us a bottle of wine that matched each hamper. It was bliss!

Saturday night we ended up at Boho Bar instead of out for dinner. I drunk about 7 cosmopolitans and made myself so sick! I'm over the whole Boho thing but my colleague's father owns the bar and it's a handy 15 minute walk from home so had to do the right thing! It's an amazing bar.

Sunday night was so fantastic! The fashion show by Miss Gladys Sym Choon was called 'Peep Show' and it was held at the infamous 'Crazy Horse' - yes they had strippers and pole dancers (Gem and I have decided that we are going to learn to pole dance) and pros and acrobats galore! It was a fab show! Even Catherine Lambert sung, she was the singer in Lost in Translation and my mother taught her at school. So much fun to do something different and see some amazingly beautiful clothes!

change of name

The beauty of blogging is that I can change my blog at anytime! My blog has had a 'makeover' the past week. First I changed the appearance and now the title.

but It's still 'Em's Blog' - just a new title. I needed something not so boring.

Happy blogging!

Wild Weekend

What a weekend!

We'' I'm very excited about this weekend. It is action-and-fashion-packed!

Friday night
First I'm dragging my boyfriend along to a spinning class. Has anyone done this?? I've just rejoined the gym and I love it! Gives me a break from my running. Then we are going for Yum-Cha at the fabulous Adelaide Market's - Gougar Street district.

Saturday
I have a Hen's Day to attend, which is a cheese and wine tour through McLaren Vale. We are going to some fantastic winerys such as coriole, (how gorgeous is that view?) Woodstock, Shottesbrooke and Hardy's Tintara. We are picking up hampers full of cheese and other goodies at Blessed Cheese and then farewelling D's single life! I absolutely love living so close to some of the best wineries in Australia, Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. Wine and cheese tasting are definitely in my 'top 10' favorite things to do on any given day!

Saturday night
Ben and I are going to the famous Grange restaurant at the Hilton for a Degustation dinner.................. which includes dishes such as “Kingfish bon-bon, orange and saffron pasta with marinated mussel, and a jellyfish with apple salad" mmmm sounds so delicious!

Sunday night
I'm going to the 21st Party Celebrations of Miss Gladys Sym Choon, a fabulous Adelaide fashion house, with Razak as their designer. There will be champagne, fashion, food and probably all of Adelaide's gay community! (which isn't a lot but it is loads of fun!) Will have to work out what to wear - are skinny leg Tsubi zip jeans still fashionable or are wide legs back? I think I will wear my new funky black waistcoat aka Kate Moss (see below) style to wear with the black skinnys I think.....

So that will be my action packed weekend! Can't wait!

Picture from "Celebs Wow in Waistcoats" (some of these are hideous; Kelis... you really have to get it right with a waistcoat!)

Waistcoats are definitely a must in my wardrobe at the moment.

This recipe is better than sex... (well, nearly..)

Ok I'm about to share my FAVORITE all time dessert recipe. This is really really hard for me to share this BUT I just have too! It's from Gordon Ramsay's book, 'Makes it Easy' pictured below. From Amazon.com. . Even though I do think Gordo can be a bit of a toss bag, I have all his books. His cooking is DIVINE. If you love rich, decadent, calorie-laden food. The fondant has the most delicious liquid centre - don't overcook!

Hot Chocolate Fondant
Serves 2

50g unsalted butter, plus extra to grease
2 tsp cocoa powder, to dust
50g good-quality bitter chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa solids), in pieces
1 free-range egg
1 free-range yolk
60g caster sugar
50g plain flour

ok here we go.............
Heat the oven to 160C/Gas 3. Butter two large ramekins, about 7.5cm in diameter, then dust liberally with cocoal

Slowly melt the chocolate and butter in a small bowl set over a pan of hot water, then take off the hear and stir until smooth. Leave to cool for 10 minutes

Using an electric whisk, whisk the whole egg, egg yolk and sugar together until pale and thick, then incorporate the chocolate mixture

Sift the flour over the mixture and gently fold in, using a large metal spoon. Divide between the ramekins and bake for 12 minutes

Turn the chocolate fondants out onto warmed plates and serve immediately

YUMBO - a couple of tips from me (I've cooked this about 5 times now) Use Lindt chocolate for this recipe or some other divine chocolate - don't overcook, undercook. Otherwise the centre goes hard.
Serve with icecream and raspberry sauce (made from raspberries and caster sugar heated)

Saturday surfing..........

Fab shot below from here from the Fendi NYC opening of the store. How I'd love to rub shoulders with Lagerfeld....... what a DREAM!

weekender....

Love the weekend - a run down so far

Last night I had a black tie awards function to go to for work. I hosted a table for some of our clients. It was good but as I was with clients, who were not really drinking, I had to be very well behaved - bring on hold off the bubbly (unfortunately only had a glass).... It was at the Adelaide Convention Centre. The food was delicious and the entertainment fab!

What I wore: black flowy just below the knees dress with a sexy red flower (aka Carrie, Sex and the City, Season 3). (See below, courtesy of HBO.) I so love the flower pinned look. So sexy! I looked very Spanish.... and got lots of compliments - nothing like a bit of cleavage!

This morning I did upper body weights at the gym and bought some gorgeous very short short bright yellow shorts.... and as it's a balmy 31 (88F) degrees C today, I will the beach and bask in the sun all afternoon.

Sunday am having lunch here for a birthday celebration. It is a gorgeous spot.

I realised today how much I absolutely love Adelaide (where I live). It is a beautiful part of the world.

I want to go back Number 1.

Once a week or fortnight I'm going to start my "I want to go back" or "I want to visit" post, including pictures.

Today it is "I want to go back to" Prague.

Wow. What can I say. I went to Prague in May 02 with my dear friend Naomi. We flew from London to Prague and stayed right near the Old Town, above some gorgeous little jazz bars. I had the most amazing 4 days there. The weather was perfect, the beer was cheap, the jazz was cool and the men, well, not really hot but they know how to party!

Above my bed at home I have a stunning print of the Charles Bridge at dawn, in black and white. Every time I look at the picture it takes me back. I have never seen such a beautiful bridge in the world.

Prague is a must

So where do you want to go back to?

My recipe for Disaster - Melbourne Cup 05

O lord please give me strength!!!!

1 bottle of very bubbly Lindauer Rose BEFORE midday
1 bottle of even more bubbly Orlando Trilogy before 4pm
3 vodka redbulls
numerous ouzo and cokes
3 cosmopolitans
20 cigarettes

200 gorgesouly suited men
thousands of sexy hot young thangs in hats and hot frocks
1 very drunken Em, feeling gorgeous, attracting a LOT of attention (that I could not touch)

Of course I backed the winner! Had to pick the Pt Lincoln horse, very sentimental place for me!
